Venus Flytrap

Hi bloggers,

Today I am going to tell you about the Venus Flytrap.

The Venus Flytrap is a special type of plant. Instead of helping bug and insects the Venus Flytrap devours them. This is why we call the Venus Flytrap a carnivorous plant. The Venus Flytrap is mostly found in North and South Carolina.

Now I am going to describe to you what the Venus Flytrap looks like, how it captures its prey and how it eats its prey.

The Venus Flytrap has long spiky edges and when it snaps shut it looks like a cage. On each of its leaves it has tiny trigger hairs that are very sensitive. When a bug lands and touches the trigger hairs the Venus Flytrap snaps shut.

It is quite simple. All the Venus Flytrap does to capture its prey is to wait for a spider or beetle to touch the trigger hairs and... SNAP!

Once the Venus Flytrap snaps shut it produces digestive juices which allows the Venus Flytrap to take out all of the nutrients from the insect. After a week or two all that is left is a skeleton. Then the Venus Flytrap reopens and is ready for its next meal.

Guess what! I got a Venus Flytrap at my house! If you want your Venus Flytrap thriving then these are the things you should do.
Give it lots of sunlight and water. (Make sure you pour the water in the saucer underneath your Venus Flytrap).
Try to find some bugs for it ( It can't survive without bugs).

I hope you learned lots about the Venus Flytrap and how to make yours thrive.

See you soon bloggers.

My Birthday party!

Hi there bloggers!

Guess what happened on the 14th of August!! It was my birthday party (my real birthday was on the 10th of August).
I invited all my friends. My friends names are Addison, Aashirya, Zoe, Bella, Arav, Ananya, Yuvaan and Aryav. We went to Mega Air
My mum booked us for 4pm to 6pm. We could bounce for 1 hour and then go into the party room for another hour. We ate quite fast but we didn't stay in the party room. Even though our time to bounce was over we went and bounced some more.
My mum made all of the food. There was fruit skewers, samosas spring rolls, gummy bears, fairy bread and murrku. My mum made the cake too. It was amazing.

I started playing minecraft this year. Therefore, I asked my mum if I could have a minecraft birthday. I had lots of fun.

Bye bloggers.

Pekapeka of New Zealand

Hi bloggers,

Today I am going to tell you about my reading for this week. This week we are learning about Pekapeka (bats).

There are three different kinds of pekapeka in New Zealand. The long tailed pekapeka, the lesser short tailed pekapeka and the greater short tailed pekapeka. The greater short tailed pekapeka is extinct.

Long Tailed Bat               Lesser Short-tailed Bat     Greater Short-tailed Bat

Did you know that pekapeka are one of New Zealand endemic mammals! Endemic means to be native to a certain place. Mammals are animals that don't lay eggs and feed their babies milk. Instead of hibernating, pekapeka do torpor in winter. Torpor is when you rest and don't do anything. Pekapeka live in roosts. Roosts is the name for pekapeka groupings.

I hope you liked my blog.

Bye bloggers.

Kind Blogging

 Kia Ora bloggers,

Guess what I did for Cybersmart? I had to make a comic about the difference between positive and negative commenting. A negative comment is when you make someone feel bad about their work. A positive comment is when you write in a way that will not make a person feel sad.

Here is my comic

Hopefully this comic helped you learn more about good commenting and bad commenting.

Blog you later.

Term 2 holidays!

Hi Bloggers! I'm back!

Today I am going to tell you what I did in the holidays.

1. I went to Clip and Climb                                                                                    2. I went to Karate                                                                                            3. I went to Family Fest                                                                                       4. I went to Mega Air

My friend Isabella (Bella) and her little sister Katie came to Clip and Climb. At Clip and Climb we get to climb lots of rock walls. At one station there was a ladder that was really unstable that you had to climb on and at another station you had to jump of a platform. We were attached to a rope while we were doing all of this.

None of my friends came to Karate. It was my first day and I didn't do very well. In Karate there are lots of different belts. This is the order...

1. White                                                                                                              2. Yellow                                                                                                            3. Orange                                                                                                            4. Green                                                                                                              5. Blue                                                                                                                6. Brown                                                                                                            7. Black

Since I just started I am a White belt but soon I will be a Yellow belt.

My little brother's friend Ananya came to Family Fest. At Family Fest there are lots of bouncy castles and other games. For example there was a bounce ball thing where you had to jump on inflated balls that were stuck to the ground but if you fell of you had to start over. I only fell of 4 times! There was also a section for kids 5 and under.

Just me and my family went to Mega Air. Mega air hadn't changed at all. There was still the toddler section, the Air Bag Pit, the Tumble Lanes and other stuff. My favorite was the Air Bag Pit. This is because I find it funny how you have to pull yourself out of the pit. My little brother's favorite was the trampoline. This is because I think that he thinks that just jumping on the trampoline is fun.

That's all for now bloggers.

My Awesome project

 Kia ora bloggers,
Guess what I did in the weekend? Since my little brother likes explosions so much, I decided to make a homemade volcano! My mum helped too.

Here are the things you need to make it!
1. Party Hat

2. Tiny Bottle

3. Dark Grey Paint (Optional)

4. Light Grey Paint (Optional)

5. Red Food colouring (Optional)

6. Baking Soda

7. Vinegar

Instructions📝

1. Cut the top of the party hat

2. Put the bottle inside the party hat (you should just see the tip of the bottle)

3. Add the baking soda inside the bottle and then add the vinegar

4. Watch the volcano erupt!

Science🧪

A chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda causes this explosion! 🌋

✨Tip✨

If you want your volcano to be extra special you can paint the party hat to make it look like a mountain. You can also add red food colouring to make the vinegar look like lava. 🌋

Here a some photos of our volcano!

My end of Term 2 blog

Hi Bloggers!

Today is the end of Term 2! Today I am going to write about...

What challenged me the most                                                                                                                          Goals for next term                                                                                                                                          What special things are happening this week

What challenged me the most was Maths because I have started stage 8 and stage 8 is the hardest stage in prototec. None of the year 5 kids are on stage 8 and I am only a year 4!

My goals for next term are...

Complete stage 8 (The last stage in prototec)                                                                                                    Earn 6 more badges on readtheory

Guess what's happening on Friday!! We are going to have a school Disco🕺! The Disco🕺is after school. On the same day we are going to have a Matariki Art Celebration🌟 at 2pm!!! We are going to sing our Kapa Haka Maori Songs. We are also going to show our mums and dads our Matariki Art 🌟!!

My Amazing music

Kia ora bloggers,

Today I am writing about my music that I made from Chrome Music Lab. You might be wondering what Chrome Music Lab is. Chrome Music Lab is a app on our computers that you can make music on. To do this we needed to know how to do screencastify.

I am proud of this work because I made a really nice type of music that makes sort of scared.

What I found challenging about this is that I had to make my music so that it made someone think about a feeling.

Blog you soon!

My Amazing work

 Welcome back bloggers,

This week for writing I have been learning how to write a Non- Chronological report.

I am proud of this writing because it took a lot of research to figure out all these facts. Here is my writing.

What was challenging about writing this report is that I had to make sure that the facts from google was true.

.......

Rewa river

Rewa river looks like a very very very wide snake that is 145 km long. A bridge called the Rewa bridge goes across the Rewa river. As all rivers Rewa river does not flow in a straight line.

Rewa river was formed through the process of progradation or growing out into the sea.

Sometimes in Fiji people come and swim in the Rewa river. I think that they like to swim in the Rewa river because Rewa is a place where you can see natural beauty in and around the city. It is mainly famous for waterfalls, the main waterfalls are Keonti, Purva, Chachai and Bahuti waterfall Rewa also famous for its historical places, you can see Rewa fort along with its museum of antique items.

We can tell people to stop using petrol cars and use electric cars. This will help global warming. The air won’t get polluted and the creatures in the Rewa river won’t die. That would be good for the Rewa river.

Now you know so much about Rewa river I think that you should go see this fascinating river in Fiji. I hope you enjoyed my report. Bye!

Blog you soon.
